# Publication Guide — Serey OCR Research Journal

## What is in this package

- `README.md`: Hugging Face Static Space metadata and introduction.
- `index.html`, `journal.html`, `styles.css`: standalone public journal website (no JS dependencies or remote fonts).
- Three HTML studies in `studies/`, including `03-self-supervised-visual-learning.html`.
- `journal.md` and all three Markdown files in `studies/`: editable journal sources suitable for articles or archiving.

## Before making public

1. Review the text and add your own author name, date preferences, and any attribution you wish to make. Do not imply an institutional affiliation or endorsement without permission.
2. Confirm your intended sharing license. None has been assigned on your behalf.
3. Recheck all external sources and accuracy descriptions. Project observations are development-only and not independently qualified.
4. Do not add private PDF scans, OCR text, names, screenshots, paths, credentials, or experiment receipts to a public repository.
5. Decide whether to list AI assistance/editing in an acknowledgments paragraph according to your preferred scholarly disclosure standard.

## Recommended: publish as a free Static Space

1. Sign into https://huggingface.co/new-space and create a Space such as `serey-ocr-research-journal`.
2. Select **Static HTML** as the SDK and choose a visibility appropriate for your review stage. A public Space makes your work discoverable.
3. Upload the **contents** of this package to the root of the Space repository, keeping the `studies/` folder.
4. Verify `README.md` starts with the provided YAML metadata and that `index.html` renders.
5. Review from the public URL; revise the source files as further studies are written.

## Alternative: publish individual studies as Hugging Face Blog Articles

If your account is eligible, open https://huggingface.co/new-blog and paste a polished study's Markdown as a new article. Eligibility depends on account or organization rights; see https://huggingface.co/docs/hub/blog-articles . You may publish these in a series and link each one from the Static Space.

## Later: academic preprint / paper

A formal research paper should establish a defined contribution and scholarly method, disclose sufficient independent evaluation, and distinguish literature survey from experimental findings. Hugging Face Paper pages are linked to arXiv IDs; see https://huggingface.co/docs/hub/paper-pages . Publishing the living journal does not automatically create a peer-reviewed paper or arXiv record.

## Suggested future journal structure

- Study 02 — Anatomy of SVTRv2 (MSR, FRM, SGM) — included
- Study 03 — Self-supervised features for low-resource Khmer OCR — included
- Study 04 — Modern document VLMs and fidelity risks
- Study 05 — Distillation and quantization for mobile OCR
- Study 06 — Hybrid recognition and uncertainty estimation

Version every update and retain the 'published vs observed vs hypothetical' distinction.
